Contact Lens Information
A contact lens is a lens that sits on the surface of the eye and helps correct vision problems like long-sightedness, short-sightedness, presboypia and astigmatism. Most contact lenses fall into one of two groups:- Soft lenses made of a very soft and flexible, water-absorbing material that conforms to the eye shape
- Hard lenses made of rigid gas-permeable plastic that covers only part of the cornea
Monthly replacement, annual soft, and gas permeable contact lenses are available. As an independent practice we should be able to source most types and designs to meet your specific criteria.
Different lenses need different chemicals, so ask the practice and don't use any cleaning solutions that haven't been recommended for your contact lenses as this could damage the lenses or irritate your eyes.
Contact Lenses are much more advanced in their material, design and comfort nowadays along with wider power ranges. Many patients are not being offered the full selection of contact lenses due to some practices only stocking their own brands, this can lead to patients having a compromised fit and comfort. We as an independent practice would like our patients to be offered the best choice of 'all' the contact lenses and let the patient decide if they would like the best or more ecconomical option.
We have a specialist who is dedicated to contact lenses to ensure all of our patients see a qualified experienced Contact Lens Optician. We pride ourselves on the fact that we do not use unqualified staff to carry out teaches and wherever possible our Contact Lens Optician will oversee our contact lens patients progress. Therefore we would encourage anyone half interested in contact lenses or a contact lens wearer from elsewhere to book in for a free contact lens discussion to find out all the latest contact lens options and prices. Please contact the practice for further details.
