    Hearing

Regional Hearing Services offer you a FREE HEARING CONSULTATION and a range of hearing services at J. Oliver Radley Opticians in the comfort of second consultaion room.  You can expect a full hearing assessment by their fully qualified Hearing Aid Audiologist, Graham Clarke, who will offer advice and recommendations about your hearing at no cost.

Regional Hearing Services use all of the major manufacturers of hearing aids in the world. J Oliver Radley Opticians have negotiated on your behalf some very special prices, in some cases half the price of a national company for the same hearing aid system.  Many people who suffer with a hearing loss do not want to admit they have a problem. For instance, do any of the following statements sound familiar?

“Turn the television up I can’t hear it.”

“If you don’t mumble I would be able to understand what you are saying.”

“Sorry, I didn’t quite understand what you said.”

“How can you expect me to hear with all that noise going on?”

If you experience any of the above, you may wish to seek professional advice from Regional Hearing, by courtesy of J Oliver Radley Opticians in our practice at Buntingford.  Regional Hearing Services provide the most up-to-date digital hearing aid systems to suit all budgets and lifestyles. They share our ethos that the customer comes first. They will provide a fully professional service from initial consultation to fitting, then ongoing support for all your future hearing needs.

Please contact us if you would like any help or advice about hearing whether for yourself, a friend or relative.  The appointments are carried out in a relaxed professional environment at the practice. To book in for your FREE HEARING CONSULTATION ring us straight away on 01763 273300 or simply come in to the practice.

BREAKING NEWS FOR ALL OVER-55s - “Substantial benefits” from hearing tests

“For the first time we have come up with a really clear-cut picture that screening is incredibly effective...” - Professor Adrian Davis, government adviser for the NHS.

Recent findings from 35,000 people aged 55-74 found that routine hearing tests offer “substantial benefits”.  It concluded that identifying hearing loss early is vital to improve quality of life and the chance of a solution being effective.

THE PRIVATE SOLUTION to a health issue of very PUBLIC CONCERN

Regional Hearing Services is a private company, with a network of branches and associated opticians- as well as dispensers able to address hearing problems for people in the local area with continued regular check-ups and FREE advice.

Hearing tests are provided by the private industry free of charge.  Recently, in line with declared government initiatives aimed at “prevention is better than cure”, Regional Hearing Services, in association with J Oliver Radley Opticians, has stepped up its capacity at a local level.  Just as you might have regular eye tests, you should also arrange for a hearing test.

“Widespread screening could improve the quality of life for millions of people over 55 whose hearing loss might otherwise go undetected for years, as it is easier to adjust to the benefits of a digital hearing aid if you have only recently started to lose your hearing.

    POSSIBLE CAUSES OF HEARING LOSS

The cause may well be a simple one and easily rectified, such as a build up of wax - in which case, a visit to your doctor will quickly resolve the problem.  However, many factors can combine to reduce hearing ability over a period of time.  Recent studies show an alarming increase in hearing loss in young people.  Evidence suggests that loud music along with an increased use of portable music players with earphones may be responsible.

Once you, or more likely someone in your family, suspect that your hearing may have deteriorated, it is important to have it checked professionally before it gets any worse.
