Are you finding words appear jumbled on the page, or a little fuzzy around the edges? Are your perceiving colours differently? A free and simple ChromaGen™ colour blindness and dyslexia assessment at our practice could put your mind at rest.

ChromaGen™ is a unique system of coloured lenses of a specific density and hue that are worn as either contact lenses or spectacles. For people suffering from colour deficiency or ‘colour blindness’, ChromaGen™ haploscopic filters work by changing the wavelength of each colour going into one or both eyes, which enhances colour perception and colour discrimination.

The simple assessment and wearing ChromaGen lenses can:

• Rule out or help with colour blindness
• Help with dyslexia, dyspraxia, migraines, and glare reduction
• Assist with feeling comfortable reading from computer screens
• Flag up issues with tracking the position of words when reading
• Help notice when words are seen as ‘moving’ or having ‘fuzzy edges’ and ‘jumbling’ letters
• Spot when you might see 6 and 9 looking similar when reading
• Help you avoid missing words, loosing alignment, and having to use a ruler to keep position. 

The assessments are free of charge for children and adults of any age they will be carried out in the privacy of the examination room by trained ChromaGen staff.

Oliver, Terry, Edel, Oliver Goldsmith, the Mayor of Buntingford and James.

The Buntingford Late Night Shopping event was a great success last Friday, with the community enjoying the festivities and fantastic lights that now adorn the shops and streets around the High Street. 

As part of the celebrations at our practice, we invited one of the top eyewear designers, Oliver Goldsmith, to visit us. The Oliver Goldsmith collection is a very popular range for us, and we’re one of only eleven opticians in the UK who have the Oliver Goldsmith Vintage Collection available. It was fantastic to talk to Oliver about his Vintage Collection, which includes styles that were worn by celebrities in films, including Michael Caine, Audrey Hepburn, John Lennon and Peter Sellers.

Also joining us at the practice for the celebrations was Buntingford’s Mayor, Stan Bull.

Our chosen charity for the evening was Optometry Giving Sight, who relies on practices like ours, to help fund training of local people and building of vision centres in the developing world. We raised £73.79 for the charity from the evening’s donations, and J. Oliver Radley Opticians doubled this to make a £150 donation to Optometry Giving Sight.

The Buntingford Late Night Shopping event is on Friday 2 December. We’d love you to join us at the practice on the night for a complimentary glass of wine or orange juice courtesy of Andrew at the Wine Cellar, and cheese tasting from Toby at the Cheese Platter.

Late Night Shopping is an excellent community event. The High Street is illuminated and the shops stay open until 8pm. You can watch the lighting of the ‘Lights of Love’ tree in aid o f Isabel Hospice, join in with the carol service and the kids can enjoy the fun fair and Santa’s Sleigh.

Buntingford local businesses pull out all the stops to make the Late Night Shopping event one to remember and the window displays along the High Street get you in the Christmas spirit. This year our practice has an exclusive winter display of flowers by Crazy Daisy in the fireplace, and Country Flowers are creating a festive display for our front desk.
