Excellent food stalls with Hog Roasts, BBQ, Real Live Bands in the street,etc... The whole day is fantastic and next year is the 10th Anniversary so will be extra special. This is the best day on the calender as we love the cars and it is great to see our clients socially in the Town. We do our part by helping sponsor the event, help organise part of it and promote it.

Hertfordshire Branch - Children of Chernobyl:

Why? The people in the affected areas (most of Belarus) have received the highest lnown prolonged exposure to radionuclides in the history of the atomic age. The Chernobyl nuclear reactor exploded in 1986 and they are still eating and drinking contaminated produce, living in areas of highest risk to their health because there is no where else for them to go.
Many of the children are true orphans or economic orpans living in large instutions, often cramped and cold conditions.
As a result of the effects of Strontium, (a by-product of the fall out), they all have damaged immune systems and the child morbidity rate is now higher than the birth rate.
Every month they are out of the contamination zone adds approximately two healthy years to their lives as it gives their systems a boost, (the average life span is 32).
As a small charity FOCC Hertfordshire ensure that any funding received is spent on health checks and good quality activities for the children.
We at J. Oliver Radley Opticians are doing our little bit by giving every child an eye examination and provided spectacles for the children that required visual correction. Vlada and chose a shiny purple pair of glasses that made her feel like a princess! Vlada and her friends from Belarus will be having eye examinations with ourselves every year from now onwards.
