What does the Practice Manager do?
The Practice Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations, front of house running of the practice and the diary. Most importantly to ensure all clients have an enjoyable visual journey experience, whether it be a minor spectacle repair, sunglasses, contact lenses or everyday spectacles. The Practice Manager is also responsible for supervising the Optometrist and Dispensing Optician and for reporting to the Practice Owner. Other duties include: answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, regular office duties, researching new designs and brands to stock.
What does an Optometrist do?
When you visit us for an eye examination, you will be examined by a registered Optometrist who is trained to recognise certain abnormalities and conditions. As your local independent practice we offer the Basic Eye Examination, Standard Eye Examination through to the Full Eye Examination. The Optometrist will prescribe the correction required for spectacles and contact lenses, and, if necessary, they will refer you to a GP or a hospital eye clinic for further investigation.
What does a Dispensing Optician do?
A Dispensing Optician will provide you with advice and supply the most comfortable fitting and aesthetically appealing spectacles and sunglasses after taking into account your personal visual, lifestyle and your vocational needs. You will find various materials and design options for your prescription lens design along with many tints and coatings options to provide optimum visual performance, combined with suitable spectacle frames to ensure a comfortable fit. The Dispensing Optician will take the measurements, fit the spectacle frame, make adjustments and repairs. As well as taking the necessary measurements for spectacles, they also keep records of these specifications.
